Twin Atlantic "What Is Light"

www.A3Network.com. Twin Atlantic "What Is Light". Twin Atlantic are an alternative rock band from Glasgow, Scotland. The band is composed of Sam McTrusty (vocals, guitar), Barry McKenna (guitar, cello, backing vocals), Ross McNae (bass, backing vocals) and Craig Kneale (drums). Twin Atlantic formed in February 2007. All members previously played in other small, local bands. During 2007 they built up a strong reputation both locally and nationally. They supported Circa Survive and mewithoutyou before recording their debut EP A Guidance From Colour at Long Wave Studio in Cardiff with producer Romesh Dodangoda (Funeral For A Friend, Kids In Glass Houses, The Blackout). This culminated in the release of their debut EP on 14 January 2008 and their first single, "Audience & Audio", on 24 December 2007. Building on support from Kerrang!, the band's profile was boosted enough for them to land support slots with Biffy Clyro and they were personally chosen by Jimmy Chamberlin to support Smashing Pumpkins at Glasgow's SECC in early February.[citation needed] Over the following months, they also supported American acts The Matches, Blink 182, Finch and Say Anything on their respective UK tours. In mid-2008, Twin Atlantic played many festivals in Scotland, including T in the Park, Belladrum Festival, RockNess, Live at Loch Lomond and Connect Music Festival. The band signed a single deal with King Tuts Recordings, and "What Is Light? Where Is Laughter?" was released on 29 September ...

Great Ways to Make Your Home More Energy Efficient

!±8± Great Ways to Make Your Home More Energy Efficient

Nowadays everyone wants a more energy efficient home. Whether it is to save money on energy costs or if you are trying to help the earth by using less energy, a great way to accomplish your goals is to make small changes throughout your home that add up to big energy savings. Many of the small investments are affordable and only take a few hours to accomplish. The pricier changes like installing light panels and tankless water heaters may not be an option for everyone. However, there are a number of things homeowners can do that will not break the bank. Your method for lighting the rooms in your home make a big difference when it comes to energy usage. If you use a Piano light, it will require less energy than large overhead lighting. A grand piano lamp is a great way to set the mood in a room, highlight a prized piece of furniture, and provide a soft glow that will be enough to illuminate a room for most tasks. Other options like this include picture lighting to highlight art and small table lighting to illuminate the area where you sit.

If you are looking for ways to keep sunlight out during the warmer months so the rooms stay cooler, forgo the expensive energy efficient windows and opt for thick shades or curtains. These window coverings will provide a great deal of protection against the suns UV rays and it will lower the temp in any room. During the colder months when you need to heat the interior, you will still want sun shining in and you can open the curtains during daylight hours. However, in the evening, the window coverings will provide protection against drafty windows and they will keep warm air from escaping. For an added layer of budget-friendly protection, install plastic sheets over the windows during winter months. Again, this blocks the drafts but the clear plastic still allows the sunlight into the room.

Chances are, especially if you live in an older home, there will be drafty areas other than the windows. You can seal these up in a variety of ways that are affordable and barely noticeable. Insulation foam allows you to plug holes in doors, floors, and ceilings. It comes in several colors so you can match the interior surface and you can insert the foam into even the smallest of areas, blocking nearly every draft in your home. You can also install foam weather stripping around doors to create an added layer of protection. Since you will be moving in and out of the doors, and opening and closing them, the stripping is a better option than the squirt foam. Both are small changes that are barely noticeable so they will not affect the style of the home, even though they are providing energy efficiency.

Instead of spending tens of thousands of dollars on energy upgrades, or foregoing any changes because you can not afford these expensive options, look for ways you can make small changes without breaking the bank.
